What is so bad about water slide decals? And what makes Ultracal decals a superior solution? Water slide decals chip, wrinkle, look dull, and the whites fade when colors are applied to them. To have any chance of preserving water slide decals, you'll need to clear coat them. What's more, the application of water slide decals is limited to very few areas of the car because they won't go over textured surfaces or contours.

The decal kits were invented by our CEO who wanted cool looking decals for the thousands of slot cars that he owned. He realized how poorly water slide decals adhered to the cars when restoring, customizing, and building them. His car's decals ended up wrinkled and faded. What was worse, the decals would often fall off during handling, and he wanted to apply decals to molded door lines, cowl areas, and door seams.

After his poor experience, he knew there had to be a better way. He'd been in the printing and cutting industry for years. So he set out to experiment with different polymers until he came up with the first decal sheet that simply worked. The result was UltraCal, a new line of decal sheets that were easy to apply, looked great the moment you installed them, and wouldn't fade over time.
