Bill Jeffries has been modeling the Pennsylvania Railroad since 1989, when he bought his first Broadway Limited locomotive and realized he had no idea what actual PRR trains looked like in operation. That question sent him down a research rabbit hole that never really ended. By day, he works as an archivist at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, which means he has access to documents and photographs that most modelers can only dream about. His writing tends toward the historically precise-he's the kind of person who cares whether a particular boxcar would have been repainted by 1952-but he tries to balance accuracy with practicality. He lives in Lancaster with his wife and an HO scale layout that he's been almost finished with since 2014.
